The School of Educational Studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia is proud to announce the upcoming “International Seminar on Indigenous Women Leadership: A Success Story of Underprivileged Women in Asia Pacific.” Scheduled for Thursday, February 22, 2024, this event will take place from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Idris Babjee Conference Room, School of Educational Studies, USM. While the platform for the plenary session will be online via Webex, the link will be provided closer to the date.

This seminar aims to bring together a diverse group of attendees, totaling 50 participants. Among them are 30 female leaders representing indigenous women’s cooperatives in Perak, 5 officials from JAKOA Perak (the governmental organization dedicated to promoting the advancement of indigenous people in Malaysia), and 15 individuals comprising lecturers and post-graduate students. The primary objective of this event is to provide a platform for showcasing the remarkable achievements of women from marginalized communities, including indigenous peoples and impoverished families, across the Asia Pacific region.

We are delighted to extend an invitation to Dr. Ninik Setiyowati, S.Psi., M.Psi., Ph.D., from the Faculty of Psychology at Universitas Negeri Malang, to be one of our esteemed speakers in the plenary session. We believe that Dr. Ninik Setiyowati will be able to effectively disseminate the inspiring triumphs of women in Indonesia, adding valuable insights to our discussions.

Through this seminar, we aim to inspire and empower women from underprivileged backgrounds, while also fostering greater awareness and appreciation for their contributions to society. We look forward to an enriching and insightful exchange of ideas and experiences during this event.
