Abstract: This study is a part of the ongoing effort to better understanding the causes, motivations and determinant of terrorist behavior. Although mental illness is not a critical factor in explaining terrorist behavior and most terrorist are not ’psychopaths’, early writings on the ‘the psychology of terrorism’ were based mostly in psychoanalytic theory. Imam Samudra who flew into the Bali Bombing I was a normal person, no record on child abuse, and very intelligent. This case study of Imam Samudra biography will provide a psychological and ideological dynamics of him. Ideology in itself is not enough to convince a person to engage in terrorism, there is an interaction of person psychology and his ideology. It was found that Imam Samudra has a holly mission to destruct on target (as a fictional finalism). This goal drove is to attain it. He create the war situation actively that can be used as a channel of his drive, as a way to jihad’s situation.
